Resume ending
Declaration for resume
Updated · meracvresume.com
Short answer
A resume declaration is one sentence at the end confirming that your details are true, such as “I hereby declare that the information given above is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.” Add it, with the place, date and your signature, for government, PSU, teaching and other offline applications, or whenever the form asks for one. For most private-company online applications it is not needed, and the space is better used for your experience.

Declaration in Hindi
For a Hindi resume or biodata, use one of these. Write करता if you are a man and करती if you are a woman; printed forms often show both as करता/करती.
Hindi declarations
In the meracvresume.com builder, the Hindi declaration picks करता or करती from the gender you choose, and shows both if you leave gender out. Choose हिंदी as the resume language and the heading prints as घोषणा, with स्थान, दिनांक and हस्ताक्षर below it.
Where to place the declaration
The declaration is always the last thing on the page, after your skills and languages, just as the career objective is always near the top. Lay it out like this:
Heading
“Declaration”, in the same style as your other section headings.
The sentence
One or two lines from the examples above. Never more than a short paragraph.
Place and date
On the left: “Place: Lucknow” and “Date: 07/10/2026”. Use the date you sign and submit, in DD/MM/YYYY.
Signature
On the right: the word “Signature” and your full name in brackets below it. Sign above your name with a blue or black pen after printing.
When to include a declaration, and when to skip it
Do
- Government and PSU applications sent on paper or by post.
- School, college and coaching teaching posts (see the teacher resume format).
- Walk-in interviews where you hand over a printed biodata.
- Campus placements or notices that ask for a “signed resume”.
- Any form or notice that asks for a self-declaration.
Don't
- Online applications through company websites and job portals — the portal has its own declaration checkbox.
- Private-company resumes where the page is already full.
- Long, emotional declarations (“I promise to work with full dedication…”).
- Two declarations, or a declaration in a different language from the rest of the resume.
- A typed or scanned signature when you are asked to sign by hand.
Private companies rarely read a declaration; they check your documents during background verification instead. Leaving it out of an online resume is normal and does no harm. If you are applying for both kinds of jobs, keep two versions: a biodata with the declaration for printed and government applications, and a plain ATS-friendly resume for online ones.

Common declaration mistakes
- Forgetting to sign. An unsigned declaration on a printed biodata looks unfinished.
- A name that does not match your certificates. Write your name in brackets exactly as on your Class 10 certificate or degree.
- Copying a declaration in a language you are not using. If the resume is in English, the declaration should be in English too.
- Adding it to every online application. Portals and applicant tracking systems do not need it; it only takes space.
- Signing over false details. Recruiters check certificates, dates and experience letters before you join.
