Teaching jobs
Teacher resume format
Updated · meracvresume.com
Short answer
A teacher resume should show near the top the subject and level you teach (for example “TGT Mathematics”), your teaching qualification (B.Ed or D.El.Ed) and any CTET or state TET you have qualified. Then list teaching experience with results — class averages, board results, activities you ran — followed by education and classroom skills. Keep it to one page as a fresher and two pages at most with experience.

The teacher resume format, section by section
School principals and coordinators usually check three things first: can you teach the subject and classes they need, are you eligible (B.Ed, D.El.Ed, TET), and what happened in your classrooms. Arrange your resume so those answers are easy to find.
Name, headline and contact
Make the headline the post you want: “TGT Mathematics”, “PRT (all subjects)”, “PGT English — 9 years, CBSE”. Then phone, email and city. Mention if you can relocate.
Objective or summary
Two or three lines: your subject, qualification, eligibility test and the post you want. Experienced teachers lead with years, boards and one result. See teacher objectives.
Teaching experience
Latest school first: post, school name and board, city, and dates. Then 3–5 bullets with the classes and subjects you taught, results, and responsibilities like class teacher, exam duty or clubs. Freshers write the B.Ed or D.El.Ed school internship here.
Education
B.Ed or D.El.Ed with the university and marks, then your graduation (and post-graduation for PGT posts) with subjects. Freshers add Class 12; experienced teachers can leave school marks out.
Eligibility tests and certifications
CTET or state TET with the paper and year (for example “CTET Paper II, Mathematics and Science, 2025”), plus training such as CBSE workshops, DIKSHA courses or a computer certificate. Some schools look for this first, so it can also go in your summary.
Skills
Lesson planning, activity-based learning, assessment, classroom management, and the technology you use (smart board, Google Classroom, PowerPoint). Add the languages you can teach in.
Achievements and co-curricular activities
Awards, student competition results, events you organised, clubs you ran. One line each, with numbers where you can.
B.Ed, D.El.Ed, CTET and TET: what to show for each post
Requirements differ by state, board and school, so always read the vacancy notice. Broadly, this is what schools in India ask for:
- PRT (primary, Classes 1–5): usually a D.El.Ed or B.El.Ed, plus CTET or state TET Paper I.
- TGT (Classes 6–10): a graduation in the subject plus B.Ed. CTET or state TET Paper II is often asked for, especially for Classes 6–8.
- PGT (Classes 11–12): a post-graduation in the subject plus B.Ed.
- Pre-primary / nursery: a nursery teacher training (NTT) diploma or similar, depending on the school.
For Classes 1 to 8, NCTE rules make a teacher eligibility test (CTET or a state TET) part of the minimum qualification. If you have qualified one, write the paper, subjects and year clearly — it is often the first thing a school screens for.

Bullets that show what happened in your classroom
“Taught Maths to Class 8” describes the job. Schools want to know how well you did it. Look for numbers in your own records:
- Board or school exam results: pass percentage, class average, number of distinctions.
- Improvement: unit-test averages before and after, students who moved up a grade band.
- Scale: number of sections, students per class, periods a week.
- Extra work: remedial classes, olympiad coaching, clubs, school events, newsletters.
- Responsibilities: class teacher, exam coordinator, house master, mentor for new teachers.
WeakTaught English to senior classes.
BetterTaught English Core to 4 sections of Classes 11 and 12; raised the Class 12 board English average from 71% to 79% over three years.
WeakConducted extra classes for weak students.
BetterRan 3 remedial sessions a week for 12 students behind in arithmetic; 10 of them passed the next unit test.
Specific classes, numbers and outcomes make the line believable — and give the interview panel something to ask you about.
Teacher resume for freshers with no experience
If you have just finished your B.Ed or D.El.Ed, you have more teaching experience than you think:
- School internship or teaching practice — write it as experience: school, classes, subjects, number of lessons, and anything you created (teaching aids, a quiz, a project).
- Home tuition or coaching — classes and subjects, how many students, and results if you know them.
- Volunteering — NSS teaching drives, NGO classes, summer camps.
- Your subject strength — your graduation marks in the subject, olympiad results, or a dissertation.
Keep it to one page. Put your CTET or TET result where it is easy to see, and mention the boards you are familiar with (CBSE, ICSE or your state board).
Photo, personal details and declaration
Some schools, especially for walk-in interviews or printed applications, still ask for a photo, date of birth or a signed declaration. Government recruitments have their own application forms that collect these. If the notice asks, include them. If it does not — for example when you apply online through a job portal — leave them out and use the space for your teaching experience. For printed applications, the biodata format adds a photo and personal details, and declaration for resume has ready lines to sign.
Applying to a Hindi-medium school? A Hindi or bilingual resume can be a good choice when it will be read on paper. For online applications, English is safer because job software does not reliably read Hindi. meracvresume.com lets you switch the section labels between English and Hindi. In Hinglish? Frequently asked questions
What should a teacher write in the resume objective?
Your subject, qualification, eligibility test and the post you want, with one proof point. For example: “B.Ed graduate with a B.Sc in Mathematics, CTET Paper II qualified, with 16 weeks of teaching practice in Classes 6 to 8. Seeking a TGT Mathematics post in a CBSE school.”
Should I put a photo on a teacher resume?
Only if the school or the vacancy notice asks for one. For online applications through job portals and school websites, a photo is not needed and can confuse the software that reads resumes.
How do I make a teacher resume with no experience?
Write your B.Ed or D.El.Ed school internship as experience, with the classes, subjects and number of lessons you taught. Add home tuition, coaching or volunteering, your CTET or TET result, and your graduation subjects and marks.
Is CTET required for private school jobs?
For Classes 1 to 8, NCTE rules make a TET (CTET or a state TET) part of the minimum qualification, and many private schools also ask for it for higher classes. Requirements vary, so check each vacancy notice.
How long should a teacher resume be?
One page for freshers. Two pages at most for experienced teachers, even with many years in different schools.
Teacher ke liye resume kaise banaye?
Sabse upar post aur subject likhiye (jaise “TGT Mathematics”), phir B.Ed/D.El.Ed aur CTET ya TET ki details, teaching experience ya B.Ed internship (kaunsi class, kaunsa subject, kya result), education aur skills. meracvresume.com par teacher sample se shuru karke apni details daal sakte hain.
